Sarah Schleifer, MSSW, LCSW is a NJ and NY
licensed clinical social worker in private practice in Teaneck, N.J.
She served as Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University
Graduate School of Social Work in New Brunswick, N.J.
Her clinical career spans over 30 years during
which she worked in family therapy, hospital and outpatient mental
health settings. After building the first Partial Hospitalization
Program at Mountainside Hospital, she was recruited to begin QUEST –
the Partial Hospitalization Program at Hackensack University Medial
Center. During her 10 year tenure she continued to expand the
Behavioral Health Services by developing new programs including several
Intensive Outpatient Programs, the Center for Trauma Recovery, Eating
Disorders Program and Dialectical Behavior Therapy Outpatient Programs.
In collaboration with the Mother/Baby nursing staff
of HUMC, she developed a Post-Partum Depression screening and treatment
program. More recently she provided training to the New Jersey Hot Line
Staff as part of Governor Codey’s PostPartum Awareness
initiative. In November 2006, she will be starting the
PostPartum Depression Support Program at Englewood Hospital and Medical
Center. This service will include a free support group that will be
offered weekly to new mothers in the community. Information and
psychotherapy services will also be offered.
Within hours of the tragic events of 9/11, she
coordinated HUMC’s Psychiatric Hotline, emergency debriefing and
counseling services to offer trauma services to the community. In 2005,
she served as clinical consultant for the “For You NJ 9/11” Program of
University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, University
Behavioral HealthCare to develop and offer programs to 9/11 survivors
and their families.
Demonstrating her commitment to the mental health
profession, she has supervised and trained graduate social work
students and psychiatric residents from New Jersey Medical
School of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She
has lectured extensively for community groups and national professional
organizations.
